How is cleaning done in hotels?

Hotels are places that must take hygiene into account and pay attention to all the details regarding aesthetics, cleanliness, smells... They are very special places of passage, where many people come to enjoy their well-deserved holidays, after having been working all year. They are also refuges for many couples, for business trips, family trips, etc. What all these people expect when they arrive at a hotel is to find a well-kept, clean and comfortable place: clean and soft sheets, spotless bathroom, shiny and dust-free furniture...

What cleaning standards and protocols do you follow?

In hotels it is important to follow some guidelines for cleaning, such as:

  • Carry out cleaning tasks at a time when guests will be least disturbed, for example during breakfast time (without choosing a time that is too early) so that when they return to the room it is already completely clean with the sheets changed and they can leave the room as it was on the first day.
  • Housekeeping staff should always let guests know that their room will be cleaned, although guests also have the option of indicating whether their room is occupied by posting a sign on their doorknob.
  • If personal items of clients are found during cleaning, they must be handed over to the lost and found office.
  • Customers' particularities will be taken into account in terms of cleanliness, for example if there are children, people allergic to any cleaning product, etc.
  • The cleaning products used must comply with regulations and be safe for guests
  • Cleaning in the hotels is daily and they are used cleaning products high quality and prepared to prevent dust accumulation, eliminate bacteria, etc.
  • It is important that hotels are disinfected regularly and that they undergo a pest control and deratization process once a year to prevent any type of infestation.
  • Health inspections are carried out to check the hygiene and health of the hotel.
  • Hotel cleaning should always be carried out by professional and approved cleaning companies.

How do you clean a hotel room?

To clean a hotel room it is essential to have the cleaning product ideal for each surface and follow some guidelines to achieve the best possible result:

  • Ventilate the room. An essential step to allow fresh air in and cool the rooms.
  • Change the sheets. All bed linens must be removed and taken to the laundry, so that they are thoroughly cleaned and the guest finds the sensation of freshness and cleanliness every time they go to rest.
  • Clean the bathroom. It is recommended to use a cleaning product disinfectant to kill germs, especially in the toilet.
  • Mirrors and glass. To make the room look clean, it is important that the mirrors and window panes are spotless.
  • Once the bathroom has been cleaned, it is advisable to clean the room in a circular motion, i.e. starting at one end, following a half circle and finishing at the other end. Dust should be removed from cupboards, drawers, lamps, etc.
  • And the last step will be to clean the floor; vacuuming first and mopping afterwards.
